The Run N’ Gun® series was built on a simple idea: a turkey vest should disappear on your body and keep everything exactly where you need it. Knight & Hale accomplished that with a 10-point adjustment system that fits men, women, and youth of any build without bagginess or shifting, and a lineup of four carry systems ranging from ultra-compact chest rigs to fully loaded vests with nearly 400 cubic inches of storage.
Every Run N’ Gun® vest features purpose-built pockets and slots designed specifically around the gear turkey hunters carry: pot call pockets, diaphragm sleeves, striker slots, a box call pocket, and room for licenses, phones, shells, and a Thermacell. The integrated MOLLE system lets you add pouches and accessories as your loadout grows.
Every vest is purpose-built to carry the full Knight & Hale turkey calls lineup, including pot calls, box calls, strikers, diaphragms, and locator calls, all in dedicated slots and pockets so nothing rattles or shifts during the stalk.
How you hunt turkeys determines how much you need to carry, and how much you carry determines which Run N’ Gun® system is right for you. Here’s how to think through the choice.
What is a turkey hunting vest?
A turkey hunting vest is a purpose-built carry system designed to organize and access all the gear a turkey hunter needs in the field: calls, ammunition, decoys, and accessories. Unlike a general-purpose hunting vest, turkey vests are engineered with specific pockets for pot calls, and strikers. The Knight & Hale Run N’ Gun® series adds a built-in seat cushion and backpack that most hunting vests lack entirely.
What is the difference between a turkey vest and a chest rig?
A turkey vest wraps around the torso and distributes gear across the chest, sides, and back, including a backpack and seat cushion. A chest rig positions all gear on the front of the chest in a single compact panel, making it faster to access but with less total capacity. The Run N’ Gun® 200 and Run N’ Gun® 300 are full vests. The Run N’ Gun® 100 and Run N’ Gun® 150 are chest rigs built for hunters who prioritize mobility and quick retrieval over maximum storage.
What is the 10-point adjustment system?
The 10-point adjustment system on the Run N’ Gun® 200 and 300 vests allows you to dial in a precise fit at the shoulders, chest, belly, and lumbar. This eliminates the bagginess common in standard hunting vests that causes fabric to catch on limbs and gear to shift. It also makes the vest wearable for men, and youth of any build. The Run N’ Gun® 200 and Run N’ Gun® 300 both feature this system.
Which is better for run-and-gun turkey hunting: the RNG-200 or RNG-300?
For aggressive run-and-gun hunting where you’re covering ground quickly, the Run N’ Gun® 200 is the better choice at 1.5 lbs. It carries all your essential calls, and a seat in a vest you’ll barely notice during a long stalk. The Run N’ Gun® 300 at 2.5 lbs. is built for hunters who like to be fully equipped for a longer sit or a full day without returning to the truck, particularly when hunting from a blind with room to spread out.
Do the Run N' Gun vests fit youth and female hunters?
Yes. The 10-point adjustment system on the Run N’ Gun® 200 and Run N’ Gun® 300 is specifically designed to provide a custom fit for men, and children of any body type. Adjustments from the shoulder to the lumbar ensure the vest stays close without gaps or bagginess regardless of build. The chest rigs also feature fully adjustable universal-fit harnesses for a similar result.
What is the cinching seat system and how does it work?
The cinching seat system on the Run N’ Gun® 200 and 300 vests secures a removable six-layer cushioned seat against your back when not in use, keeping it out of the way while you move. When you stop to sit, the system releases to bring the cushion down for immediate support. The seat is fully removable if you prefer to leave it behind entirely. Both the RNG-200 and the RNG-300 include this system.
What turkey calls will fit in the Run N' Gun vests?
The Run N’ Gun® 200 and 300 vests include dedicated pockets for two pot calls, one box call, and quick-dry diaphragm pockets. This means they’re built to carry the full Knight & Hale turkey calls lineup: pot calls like the Moonshiner, box calls like the HD™ Long Range Hen Box Call, and multiple diaphragm cuts all fit without improvisation or outside pouches.
What is the MOLLE system and what can I attach to it?
MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) is a webbing attachment system that lets you add pouches, holders, and accessories to the vest’s exterior. The MOLLE system on the Run N’ Gun® 200 and Run N’ Gun® 300 allows you to attach compatible aftermarket pouches, additional call holders, or gear organizers as your loadout changes from season to season. It’s one of the features that makes the Run N’ Gun series adaptable over multiple seasons.
