Rainy New York Morning

This buck turned out to be alot bigger than I could have ever imagined......

It was November 15th, the opening day of the NY gun season. I was in my stand before daylight on a rainy, but very warm morning.  I had previously hunted this stand during the bow season i had seen numerous mature bucks that I would have been very happy to harvest. The woods were very active with rutting bucks chasing does this morning. I had three does within 15yards of my ground blind. I could hear grunting in the distance without seeing the buck that was making these calls. So i grunted on my Knight and Hale Rack Blaster which was perfect for this location because of the thick close quarters piece of woods I was hunting and the fact that the deer were so close. Shortly after i used the grunter I caught movement to my right. I knew that he was a shooter as soon as I saw him, but didnt realize just how good he was at this moment.I grabbed my 30-06 carefully watching the does and the movement of this buck. He dissappeared into a gully and i was ready for him when he came out the other side. This buck turned out to be alot bigger than I could have ever imagined especially for the area where i was hunting. He was a 14 point buck that grossed 153 boone and crocket pts.
