Knight & Hale Brings Big Presence To NWTF Convention
Once again Knight & Hale Game Calls was a main attraction at the 2007 National Wild Turkey Federation Convention, when a record number of more than 42,000 wild turkey hunters visited the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center Feb. 23 to 25.
Legendary hunters Harold Knight and David Hale greeted long lines of fans and signed autographs all day long on Friday and Saturday as turkey calls screamed through the crowded exhibition hall.
Knight & Hale pro staffers fared well In the Wild Turkey Bourbon Grand National Turkey Calling Championship. Pro staffer Kerry Terrell, of Brooklet, Ga., took third overall in the Senior Division.
Pro staffer Mark Prudhomme of Georgetown, S.C., also placed in the top ten and placed second in the Hooting Championship. Prudhomme and Terrell teamed up to place second in the Team Competition.
In a bizarre judging event, former Grand National Champion and five-time Champion of Champion winner Chris Parrish failed to make the cut to the finals. "I don’t know what happened," Parrish said. "I guess I didn’t sound like what they wanted to hear."
To prove his point, he headed directly to Pearl, Miss., and won the U.S. Open Turkey Calling Championship against many of the same callers he faced in the Grand, including the winner of the Grand Nationals. This marks the third year he's won this event and the second year in a row.
